1. Acceptance
By creating an account you agree to these Terms. Your acceptance timestamp is logged against your profile.
2. Service description
Boomerang.study provides exam-style practice questions, AI answer marking, adaptive learning, and progress tracking for Australian senior secondary students.
3. Eligibility
You must be in Year 11 or 12 (or a parent/guardian of one) and aged 16 or older. Boomerang.study covers the Australian curriculum only.
4. Accounts
One account per person. You must keep your credentials confidential and notify us via our contact form of any unauthorised access.
5. Free plan
10 AI interactions per day (shared across AI marking and AI tutor), resetting at midnight AEST (Queensland time). Free limits may be adjusted with at least 30 days' notice.
6. Subscriptions
Billing is processed by Stripe. Cancellation: access continues until the end of the current billing period and then reverts to Free; no refund is issued for the current billing period (see our Refund Policy for exceptions). Price changes: 30 days' written notice. Payment failure: 7-day cure period, then your account reverts to Free.
7. Usage limits
Paid plans are subject to a cap of 300 AI interactions per week across all AI features (marking, tutor, and answer extraction). The weekly window is fixed to your signup day at midnight Australia/Sydney time and resets on the same weekday each week. Top-up credit packs add overflow above the weekly cap and expire at the end of your paid plan. No bots, scripts, or automated usage. No account sharing. Unusual usage patterns may trigger a review. For school or group licensing use our school enquiry form.
8. Acceptable use
No unlawful, harmful, or discriminatory content through chat or feedback features. No reverse engineering or copying of platform content.
9. AI marking disclaimer
AI marking is educational guidance, not an official grade. Occasional errors are possible — flag suspected mistakes through the feedback button. Marks from Boomerang.study are not accepted by ATAR bodies, universities, or educational institutions. We regularly review and improve mark schemes.
10. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2, Competition and Consumer Act 2010 Cth) that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.
11. Intellectual property
All platform content is owned by or licensed to Boomerang Study. You receive a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the platform. Your own answers remain your property.
12. Privacy & data rights
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms. You may at any time export a complete JSON copy of your data, granularly delete content per subject, or schedule full account deletion from Settings. Full deletion has a 30-day grace period; after that, all personal data is permanently and irreversibly purged from our Australian database (billing records are retained for ~7 years as required by Australian tax law). Account deletion is blocked while an active paid subscription exists — cancel first.
13. Parent Access
If you (the student) choose to link a parent or guardian, they will see your study activity, accuracy and assessment scores by subject and topic, summarised AI feedback on written answers, and the weekly digest email. Parents do not see your full written answers, tutor chat history, or login credentials. You can revoke parent access at any time from Settings › Parent Access; revocation is immediate. 14. Limitation of liability
The platform is provided "as is". Indirect loss is excluded. Our liability is capped at the total fees you paid in the prior 3 months. This does not apply to negligence, fraud, or any breach of the Australian Consumer Law.
15. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of Terms, fraud, or repeated breaches of the usage limits in Section 7. No refund is provided on termination for breach.
16. Changes
We will give 14 days' notice of any material change to these Terms. Continued use after that period constitutes acceptance.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. We will attempt good-faith dispute resolution first (via our legal contact form, 14 business days), then any matter falls to the Queensland courts.
